Peace of mind is rooted

About Us

Mahakaruna Buddhist Society (formerly Buddha Centre Inc.) was established in Denmark in 2000 under the spiritual guidance of the 15th GyalkhangTse Tulku, a Tibetan Lama from Ganden Monastery in India.

The aim of the Society is to facilitate the study and teaching of Buddhism and provide guidance and support for those who are seeking a spiritual path or simply wanting to achieve mental well-being and peace of mind.

‘Mahakaruna’ means great compassion and the Society follows the Mahayana tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and belongs to the Gelug lineage headed by H.H. the Dalai Lama. The Mahayana Tradition emphasizes the development of loving kindness, compassion and wisdom. It teaches us how to control our agitated mind through meditation; how to transform our problems into opportunities and provides us with a practical philosophy for living a happy and meaningful life.

The ultimate goal of all the teachings of the Buddha, however, was to show us how to liberate our self from suffering and develop our potential to become an enlightened being like himself.
